Political Parties sign peace agreement ahead of Kwara LG polls.

The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) has charged political parties in the state to allow peace reign during local government polls, scheduled for Saturday, November18, 2017.

In line with KWASIEC’s call, representatives of political parties have signed a peace agreement ahead of the election.

The agreement was signed before election security inter-agency consultative committee at the office of electoral body.

They vowed to ensure that the Local Government election is peaceful but urged KWASIEC to be fair to all.

Speaking on how secure the election proceedings would be, the state commissioner of police, Lawan Ado assured that adequate security would be provided.

The KWASIEC Chairman,  Uthman Ajidagba also promised a level playing field for all political parties.

Meanwhile, the Kwara state executive council has enjoined all residents of the state to come out and exercise their voting rights. The council called on residents turn out in large numbers to vote candidates of their choice on Saturday.

Election is scheduled to hold all the 16 local government areas and the 193 wards in Kwara state this Saturday
