Chinua Achebe’s Google Doodle

Late Chinua Achebe honoured with Google Doodle.

Today, Google celebrates Chinua Achebe’s post-mortem 87th birthday and honours him with Google Doodle.

Late Achebe, born on November 16, 1930 was a world renowned Nigerian author and critic.

Achebe, who is considered as the father of modern African literature was born in Ogidi in South-eastern Nigeria.

His first novel, ‘Things Fall Apart’, released in 1958 is the most widely read book in the world, translated into more than 50 languages, with over 10 million copies sold.

His other novels are; No Longer at Ease, Arrow of God and A Man of the People.

He won several prizes to his credit such as Man Booker International Prize in 2007, the Commonwealth Poetry Prize for his collection, Christmas in Biafra and many more.

He died on March 21, 2013 at the age of 82.
