Ganduje spends N208m to empower tea sellers

Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state, has disclosed his administration has spent N208m on the purchase of noodles and other resources needed to empower 5,200 Masu Shayi (tea sellers) in the state.
This, he stated on Saturday while distributing empowerment items to the 5,200 beneficiaries from the 44 local government areas of Kano State.
Items received by the tea sellers included cartons of noodles, cocoa beverage, liquid and powdered milk, tea, crates of eggs, nylon and cups, baskets, brown and white sugar, spaghetti and bread.
Each of the beneficiary will receive additional N40,000 cash as take-off grant according to information disclosed by Governor Ganduje at an elaborate ceremony held at the Open Theatre of the Government House, Kano state.

He urged the beneficiaries to pay close attention to the sanitation of their environment as well as maintain a high level of personal hygiene.
He said, “We are empowering 5,200 tea sellers. We are empowering them because we want to increase their economic well-being. We are empowering you to improve the economy of Kano.
“We are empowering you to improve sanitation in your services; we are empowering you to improve the nutritional value of your services; we are empowering you because of the multiplying effects of this kind of programme.”
