Senator Ndume Wins Case Against Senate President Bukola Saraki

A Federal High Court in Abuja has declared as ILLEGAL the suspension of Senator Ali Ndume. He disclosed this in Abuja at a briefing on Friday.

Justice Babatunde Quadri on Friday, November 10, held that the suspension of Ndume (APC, Borno South) for six months suspension is illegal.

Justice Babatunde Quadri said his suspension “is a violation of his right to fair hearing and freedom of expression as guaranteed by sections 36 and 39 of the extant Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and Article 7(1) and 9(2) of the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights, 2004.”

Though he has served out his suspension, Senator Ndume says it will serve as a lesson to the Senate.

Naija News recalls that Senator Ndume was suspended by the senate for allegedly raising false allegations against the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Dino Melaye through order 14 and 15 at plenary.
