Why Sanchez should not be kept at Arsenal against his wish.

Arsenal legend, Tony Adams, has advised the Arsenal hierarchy to sell off Chilean star, Alexis Sanchez if he is not willing to sign a new contract with the club.

The former Gunners captain was of the opinion that no player should hold the club to ransom as the club is bigger than any individual player.

Sanchez almost secured a move to fellow premier league club, Manchester City during the close-season, but the inability of Arsenal to secure a replacement in good time, forced him to remain with the London club.

The Chilean star is now in the final year of his contract and will depart for free at the end of the current season except fresh terms are agreed.

However, speaking on the Sanchez saga, Arsenal legend and former captain, Tony Adams said if any player is unhappy at the club, the club should let him go.

“We used to have a philosophy at Arsenal: if you don’t want to be at the club then bye-bye, we shake your hand and get people that do, whatever money,” he told Omnisport at the premiere of new Arsenal film ’89’.

“I’ve always loved those principles, so if [Sanchez] doesn’t want to be here then, absolutely, try and get the most you can for him and get him on and get someone that does want to play for the club.”
