-NNPC allays fears of fuel scarcity during the Christmas and new year.

-The corporation vows the nation won’t experience queues at filling station before, during and after the celebrations.

The group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation,(NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru, has directed the Petroleum Products Marketing Company(PPMC) to ensure steady petrol supply during and beyond the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

This is according to a statement in Abuja by Ndu Ughamadu, NNPC spokesman.

PPMC is the NNPC subsidiary in charge of marketing and distribution of petroleum products in the country.

“The festive season is fast approaching, a period when almost always, people expect queues to happen,” Baru was quoted to have said.

“If last year you had a queue-free festive season, we want this year’s to be a season where fuel station attendants will be inviting motorists to their stands for fuelling.”

The NNPC boss, also charged the PPMC management to ensure the firm makes profit by cutting their operating costs.

Responding to the challenge, Umar Ajiya, managing director, PPMC, promised to ensure that petrol and all other petroleum products will be available in large quantities throughout the yuletide and the country will never experience queues at filling stations again.
