Avengers: Nigerian Army deploys helicopters to Niger Delta

The Nigerian Army helicopters have been deployed to the Niger Delta region as the residents of Oporoza, the headquaters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, on Tuesday, saw two helicopters flying around the community.

Naija News gathered that the helicopters were first sighted by the residents at 10am and flown for about 30 minutes before leaving the village. Thereafter, they returned at noon causing some residents to flee into the bush for fear that the soldiers were coming to invade the community.

Gunmen killed 11 persons in Plateau

Some unknown gunmen on Tuesday night killed eleven people along Rim, Riyom Local Government Area of Northern Plateau State.

Confirming the tragic incident, the Police Public Relations Office of the Plateau State Police Command, Terna Tyopev, said the victims were returning from a village market in Makera when they were attacked by the gunmen.

Forget 2019 ambition, APC Chieftain advises Buhari

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state, Mauzu Magaji, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to ignore those encouraging him to re-contest in 2019 election.

Magaji, a former Special Adviser on Projects to ex-governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, said this while speaking with newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja, recalling that even the president had complained of his age when he assumed power in 2015.

El-Rufai has wasted N10 billion on school feeding programme – Sani

Senator Shehu Sani, (APC, Kaduna), has accused the Kaduna state governor of wasting N10 billion naira on the school feeding programme embarked upon by the state government without any tangible result.

The Senator, who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, also condemned the planned  sack of over 21,000 teachers in the state.

Atiku accused of hijacking PDP activities in Adamawa state

Former Vice- President Atiku Abubakar, has been accused of influencing the activities of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his home state of Adamawa in order to use the platform to actualize his presidential ambition in 2019.

A PDP chieftain and former special assistant to ex-Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Dr. Umar Ardo, leveled the accusation against him and further called for the cancellation of the results of last Saturday’s ward congresses in Adamawa State.

IGP Ibrahim Idris appears before Senate

After initially failing to honour an invitation by an ad hoc committee of the senate, set up to investigate charges against him, the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has now appeared before the senate ad hoc committee.

Why EFCC is after PDP leaders – Fani-Kayose reveals

A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, claims that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is arresting some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, because 2019 election is fast approaching.

Fani-Kayode who said this in a tweet via his Twitter handle, added that the arrest could also be linked to the party’s upcoming convention.

NLC protest sack of teachers in Kaduna state

Hundreds of workers on Wednesday, took to the streets of Kaduna to protest the sack of 21,000 primary school teachers by the Kaduna State Government.

Information obtained by Naija News, shows the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ayuba Waba, led several other workers in the march to the Kaduna state House of Assembly to register their protest.
