Governor Willie Obiano

Obaze says obiano will lose the election no matter the amount expended on media and publicity.

The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Oseloka Obaze, says Governor Willie Obiano is wasting his time spending state’s funds on media hype and propaganda for the upcoming election in Anambra to hold on November 18

Obaze said wasting resources on publicity will not save Obiano from losing the election, as the people will cast their massive votes against him.

He added that the only thing capable of securing the incumbent another mandate in a state like Anambra is visible dividends of democracy and not media hype.

Obaze who stated this while speaking in Nkpor, Idemmili North Local Government Area of the state, said despite spending a lot on media and publicity, Obiano’s re-election bid has immense deficiencies.

Obaze said if elected as the governor of the state, he will dedicate 26% of the state’s budget to education as against the 3% it currently recieves, adding that the increased funding of the education sector will allow the state offer free and quality education to students from kindergarten to JSS 3.

He also said the increased education funds will provide for qualified and properly remunerated teachers, teacher training and retraining, access to computer and Internet facilities, teaching and learning aids, appropriately sized classrooms, as well as well furnished laboratories.

Obaze vowed to conduct transparent Local Government elections within the first six months of his government, saying his administration will give priority to grassroots development.

He also condemned the practice were hospitals require initial deposits, and sometimes police documents, before responding to emergency cases.

Obaze said if elected, he will send an executive bill to the State House of Assembly to enact a law that will mandate hospitals to “respond to emergency situations first and ask questions later.”

He assured that he will back up the law by establishing a charity care fund that will ensure hospitals do not run into loss in the process.
