Security men save Sen. Melaye from attacks in Kogi state

-Suspected political thugs attack Dino Melaye at an event in Kabba, Kogi state.

-Melaye was pelted with stones and other dangerous materials.

Senator Dino Melaye saved from been injured on Saturday by security operatives.

The Senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Dino Melaye, narrowly escaped an attack on Saturday by suspected political thugs during the Kaaba Day celebration in Kogi state, thanks to the quick intervention of security operatives.

The controversial senator had arrived the venue of the event  at about 11 ‘o’clock in the morning, and was cheerfully welcomed by a large crowd of supporters which made the recall process hanging over his head seem like a distant night mare.

Trouble however started when Melaye was called upon to make a speech and announce his donation to the gathering and he announced the sum of N3m which seemed to unsettle a portion of the crowd.

The senator was thereafter, pelted with stones , water and other dangerous objects but the security operatives on ground were able to whisk him away from the scene and had to use tear gas to bring the situation under control.

Governor Yahaya Bello, according to Sahara Reporters, was able to get the news of the attack on Senator Melaye before he arrived the venue of the event and therefore, stayed away completely.

He however, sent a donation of N20 million to the event as the government’s contribution to the event and development of the community.

One of the thugs arrested at the scene, was whisked away in a prison van with registration number PS 300 A/O.
