Kwara government announces that there is no monkey pox outbreak in the state.

Kwara State Government has today, Monday announced that there is no outbreak of the Monkey pox disease across the 16 local government areas of the state.

The State Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Atolagbe Alege, made the announcement to the News Agency of Nigeria in llorin on Monday, saying the information follows thorough assessment.

Alege said that investigation by state health officials in all areas of the Kwara shows that there is no outbreak of Monkey pox disease in the state.

“For now, Kwara has zero record of Monkeypox and we are working round the clock to maintain the record,’’ he said.

The commissioner added that in a bid to forestall an outbreak of the disease, the state government had trained 241 health workers for prevention and treatment of the disease.

Alege said the trained personnel were have already been mobilised in all the 16 local government areas ensuring the prevention of an outbreak of the disease.

The Commissioner urged residents of the state to maintain good hygiene and keep their clean environment always to complement the government’s efforts at ensuring healthy living.
