NYSC: 16 corps members repeat service in Anambra

16 corps members are to repeat service in Anambra.

The Anambra State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator, Ebenezer Olawale, reveals that sixteen serving corps members will repeat their service year while three others will serve various terms of disciplinary measures.

Olawale said this on Thursday in Akwa, adding that certificates were issued at the various local government NYSC offices but no formal passing out ceremony was held in the state.

Naija News gathered that 2,158 corps members were issued discharge certificates, also seven corps members won the Governor’s Award, while four went home with the Chairman’s Award as they passed out yesterday, Thursday.

The coordinator congratulated the outgoing corps members but regretted that 19 of them were to face disciplinary measures, with 16 repeating their service, while three would serve extension of between two and four months.

He added that the NYSC still had enough manpower to dsicharge its responsibilities in the forthcoming Anambra gubernatorial election.

He said the discharged corps members who wished to partake in the election could stay back but not compelled to do so.

“There are no fewer than 8,000 corps members currently serving in the state,’’ he said.

Mr. Olawale said his office would work with the NYSC offices in neighbouring states to Anambra to avert any hitch in the provision of personnel for the election.

He added that the Director-General of the NYSC, Suleiman Kazaure, will visit Anambra to address corps members ahead of the governorship election on the need to be fair and neutral during the election.
