NSCDC commandant in Nasarawa dies at 55.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, has confirmed the death of its Commandant, Bashir Lawan-Kano, in Lafia, the State capital on Tuesday.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Aso Okereke who disclosed this in a statement said Mr. Lawan-Kano, aged 55, died at about 8.30 a.m. at Dalhatu Specialist Hospital on Tuesday after a brief illness.

He said the command is currently in a mourning state and would miss him.

“The command has been plunged into mourning over the death of the commandant. We will miss his sense of humour as he died at a time we need him most,” he said.

He is survived by a wife and six children.

Naija News learnt that he was a former senior lecturer with Kano State Polytechnic, before transferring to NSCDC in 2005 as deputy commandant. He served as state commandant in Abeokuta, Owerri and Ebonyi before he was redeployed to Nasarawa State Command in 2015.
