The Kabba/Bunu chapter of the National Union of Roads and transport workers (NURTW) has called on its members to install speed limit devices in their vehicles to ensure safety.

Making the call on Wednesday, the chairman of the union, Mr Alaba Ajibade, enjoined the drivers to be carefulduring the ember months.

Speaking in Lokoja, Kogi state, Ajibade state that there were too many cases of drivers being involved accidents as a result of over speeding on highways, hence the urgent need to make use of the speed limit device to control their speed.

He noted that every driver had been compelled to get a speed limit device for their buses to enable them monitor their speeds.

The need for the union to create awareness and give adequate information to drivers , became imperative as this is ember month season, marked by many festivities and travelling.

Ajibade expressed optimism that drivers within the union would be more cautious as they were being enlightened on the correct ways to ply the roads, especially on the highways.

“I believe drivers now know reasons why they must be patient at all times and to over speed on high ways,’’ he said.

He expressed gratitude that throughout his position as the chairmanship of the association, there had not been any record of unnecessary accidents by members.
