The Senate has set up an ad hoc committee to investigate the dismissed former Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on Pension, Abdulrasheed Maina on Tuesday.

Naija News gathered that the Senate after plenary session on Tuesday directed the Committee on Public Service and Establishment investigate how Maina got into the country after absconding for some years over alleged N2bn fraud and others.

The lawmakers also ordered the investigation of how Maina was reinstated into Public Service and how he got promoted to the level of Director in the civil service.

Meanwhile, Naija News reports the federal government gives more reasons why Abdulrasheed Maina was sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the president acted on a new set of facts.

According to Femi Adeshina, the Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Buhari dismissed Maina because he left the service without permission and he absconded from the country, adding that his action brought embarrassment on Buhari’s government.
