Former Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, on Thursday, held a closed door meeting with former military Head of state, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd).

The private meeting, which was held at the Minna Hilltop residence of the former military leader, in Niger State, lasted for about two hours.

Although, the details of the meeting between the two leaders was not disclosed to newsmen, some sources claim it is part of Lamido’s nation wide consultation over his 2019 presidential ambition.

Before this current visit, Lamido has expressed support for the ambition of another former governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel to become the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), national chairman at the party’s national convention scheduled for December.

Recall, few weeks ago, Lamido had called on all PDP members not to be discouraged by persecution from the current APC led administration.

“We will be courageous. Nigeria has been around before APC and it will be around after APC.

“APC cannot take us hostage. We need to stand up. We need people to be courageous.

“We shall not keep quiet. It is our country. Enough of this culture of nepotism and fear.

“Government should be respected not feared. Government should be there for all of us, whether APC and PDP. 2019 will be a defining moment for Nigeria”, he had said.
