We will be fine without you – PDP replies Obasanjo

-PDP declare it won’t pressurize ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo to return to the party.

-The party also said it would be fine without the presence of the former president in the party.

The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has told former President Olusegun Obasanjo that the party will survive and do well without his presence in the party.

The party disclosed that though they respect him, they won’t force him to return to the party.

The former President had earlier in the week, vowed never to return to the party, saying he would rather remain a statesman, working for the interest of the nation.

Recall that former President, Olusegun Obasanjo had after a closed door meeting with the National Caretaker Chairman of the party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, in Abeokuta, disclosed he would not be returning to the party.

Spokesperson for the PDP, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, in his reaction, said PDP as a party will respect the former president’s stance.

He said, “He has said it before ( that he won’t return to the party ). We are not going to force him. No individual is bigger than the party.

“Obasanjo has the right to hold his opinion. But the PDP will not die, whether he joins us or not.

“We respect his opinion. There’s nothing to say more than that . He is an individual and we respect him.”
