-Gov. Ikpeazu lifts curfew in Aba as normalcy returns to the commercial city.

Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has lifted the 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew imposed on Aba on Sept. 12, as a result of clashes between IPOB members and the military in the state.

The lifting of the curfew follows improved security situation in the commercial city as calm and normalcy has returned to the affected communities..

A statement issued in Umuahia on Wednesday by the governor’s chief press secretary, Mr Enyinnaya Appolos, commended Aba residents for compliance during the period the curfew lasted.

The governor further urged the citizens and residents of the city to remain law abiding in order to ensure lasting peace in the city.

He also appreciated the various  security agencies for the roles played while the curfew lasted and their efforts at protecting the lives and property of people in Aba.

 

The authorities of the Nigeria army also this week, declared the successful end of the operation python dance in the region which was targeted at restoring peace in the South East region.
