Soldiers, others nabbed for stealing in Lagos

Three soldiers and a dismissed Air Force officer, Oludayo Odufoye, have been arrested by police for allegedly stealing solar panels and inverter solar batteries installed in some public schools in Lagos state.

Naija News gathered that the soldiers names are: Sunday Olalekan, Suleiman Usman and Olajide Busayo while other suspects are; Samuel Ani, Michael Omoregbe, Efosa Emmanuel, Nwabueze Nnamani, Festus Maduka, John Nwokeoma and Chibuzor Chukwu.

Nwokoema and Chukwu, according to Punch reports, reportedly bought the panels from the gang.

It was learnt that the soldiers escorted the gang to steal the items at the Okemagba Senior Secondary School, Epe. Therefore, some people alerted the police and the suspects were arrested.

A truck with number plate, LND 61 XQ, containing the stolen items have been recovered from them, and the soldiers had been taken to the Nigerian Army, 9 Brigade, Ikeja, for court-marshal.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgar, who paraded the suspects on Wednesday at the command’s headquarters in Ikeja, said the gang had vandalised similar equipment owned by the government and private organisations in the Epe, Sangotedo and Badagry areas of the state.
