-Four secondary school teachers got demoted to classroom teachers in Edo State.

-This was due to illegal levies they collected from the students.

Four secondary school principals have been demoted to classroom teachers for collecting illegal fees from students in Edo State.

Naija News gathered that the principals collected between N11,000 and N20,000 for school uniforms as against N3,000 for Junior Secondary School and N4,000 for Senior Secondary School approved by the state government.

Chairman, Edo State Post Primary Education Board, Mr. Gabriel Oiboh, according to PMNews report, announced the demotion of the teachers while giving report of the disciplinary committee set up to investigate the teachers.

It was further learnt that the principals were suspended last week and also asked to refund the money they collected from the students under the strict supervision of Post Primary Education Board.

They have also been demoted to classroom teachers.

The names of the principals are given as; Glory Omorodion of Oka Junior Secondary School; Mrs. Victoria Okuonghae of Niger College Junior school; Mrs. Cecilia Isibor of Idogbo Junior Secondary school and Mr. Bright Omorogie of Idogbo Senior Secondary School.

Oiboh said the teachers were found culpable, having admitted to the offence when interrogated by the committee.

He said such cases are still rampant in some schools in the state, warning that any school principal found collecting illegal levies from students would be dismissed.
