Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed on Thursday that the club may have no other option but to sell the duo of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil in the January transfer window.

Both players are yet to agree new deals at the Emirate stadium and are already into the last year of their current deals with many high profile teams reported to be interested in the star duo.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of his team’s game against Watford on Saturday, Wenger said yes when asked about the probability of selling the players. “Once you’re in our kind of situation, we have envisaged every solution, yes.”

Asked if Arsenal had set a deadline for contract negotiations with the pair to conclude, Wenger replied: “No. Not at the moment.”

Both Alexis Sanchez and Mezut Ozil’s were big name and big money arrivals at the Emirates stadium but the presence of both players has so far failed to deliver the premier league title to the North London club.

Meanwhile, earlier in the week, Ozil’s agent, Erkut Sogut, indicated talks with Arsenal about his agent were progressing positively.

“That’s my understanding, yes,” said Wenger. “I always said the fact that we didn’t find an agreement last year doesn’t mean the player will necessarily leave.”

“Both players look happy here and overall I hope the situation can be turned around.”
