-FG bans medical doctors in public employment from engaging in private practice.

The Federal Government has placed a restriction which bars medical doctors working in public hospitals from engaging in private practice.

This was part of decisions taken at Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Federal Government also promised to henceforth invoke the no work no pay doctrine as enshrined in the country’s law on workers who decide to embark on strike.

The Minister of Health Prof. Isaac Adewole and Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige who addressed a joint press briefing after the FEC meeting, observed that that most of the unions that recently embarked on strike contravened the labour laws especially the Trade Dispute Act.
