40 Boko Haram insurgents surrender to NSCDC

Not less than 40 Boko Haram insurgents have willing surrendered to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, the  security agency disclosed

The disclosure was made  by the Commandant of the corps in the state, Ibrahim Abdullahi, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Maiduguri.

The commandant stated that the terrorists had shown their willingness to relinquish their membership of the dreaded group, through an intermediary, a firewood vendor.

The commandant noted that the insurgents surrendered of your own free will, under the Federal Government’s Safe Corridor Initiative.

“About 40 of the insurgents have come forward to surrender. They indicated that many of them are willing to lay down their arms,” Abdullahi said.

Abdullahi also mentioned that six insurgents had previously surrendered to the NSCDC in the past four weeks in the state.

He included that the command has also carried out town hall meetings with communities and religious leaders to enhance security in the state.
