Police Service Commission investigates Commissioner of Police
The Police Service Commission, PSC, says it is currently investigating some Commissioners of Police over alleged abuse of office and violation of laid down rules and regulation.
The spokesperson of the Commission, Ikechukwu Ani made this disclosure on Monday, while receiving some delegates of a pressure group called Concerned Citizens of Edo State.
Naija News gathered that the group were at the Commission to protest against what they described underwhelming performance of the Commissioner of Police, CP Haliru Gwandu in the State.
Ani said the Commission had received several complaints and petitions against some Commissioners of Police who were allegedly violating the rules and regulations guiding the profession.
He noted that the Commission will take serious disciplinary measures against any of the CPs found to have abused his office, adding that the complaint from the group will be handled swiftly.

According to him, the Commission will take very seriously issues of abuse of office especially from State Commissioners which he said can lead to anarchy.
“We will not allow anarchy in Edo State; we will immediately look into this complaint and take a decision on it,” he said.
The leader of the group, Hon. Henry Okpeme had earlier complained of the failure of the security in Edo State, stressing the high rate of assassinations, kidnapping anf rape in the state.
He noted that the current Commissioner of Police seemed to have compromised its responsibilities and should be redeployed in the interest of the people of Edo State.
