INEC deploys 6,000 card readers for Anambra elections

-INEC to make use of card readers for Anambra gubernatorial elections.

-The commission also assured a level playing ground that will guarantee a free, fair and acceptable election.

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Tuesday disclosed it had deployed over 6, 000 card reader machines to ensure smooth conduct of the Anambra gubernatorial elections scheduled to hold Nov. 18.

This was made known by INEC’s administrative secretary in Anambra state, Mr Charles Mbanaja.

According to him, 5,000 of the machines have already been tested and found to be in good working condition.

The secretary, while urging politicians to play by the rules, also assured stakeholders of the readiness of the commission to guarantee a free and fair election in the state.

As parts of efforts to address re-occurring cases of invalid votes and other related electoral shortcomings during the election, he disclosed that INEC had embarked on public enlightenment to sensitise the people on the electoral processes.
