INEC loses sensitive materials to flood outbreak

The Benin branch of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Saturday, lost sensitive and non sensitive materials to flood.

The Edo INEC Administrative Secretary, Mr Lebari Nduh, made the disclosure on Sunday, saying the flood was as a result of the current road construction and the poor drainages at Lucky Way in Benin City, the Edo state capital.

Nduh said the flood demolished the fence of the Benin office and infiltrated the entire building. He added that water flooded some critical stores of the commission. The stores which housed laptops, card readers printing machines and were all soaked with water.

Also, 18 pickup vans of the commission, packed at the office premises were also flooded.

Consequently, Nduh appealed to relevant agencies such as the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Federal Ministry of Works to assist them..

He appreciated the Nigeria police for securing the building since the menace of the flood.
