A senior lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, University of Benin in Edo State, Prof. Paul Otasowie, was shot dead by gunmen on Wednesday.

Naija News gathered that he was killed in front of his house at Ekehuan road in Oredo Local Government Area of the state.

There were reports by some people that the professor was shot by cultist while some said he was shot by armed robbers.

The University’s Public Relations Officer, Michael Osasuyi, said the incident has been reported to the police.

However, the institution is yet to issue a statement on the death.
