Monkeypox virus breakout in Bayelsa, medical doctor, 10 others quarantined

Residents of Bayelsa State  are gripped with fear as a deadly viral epidemic known as “monkeypox” has broken out in the state.

The Punch reports that a medical doctor and 10 persons who came down with the monkeypox had been quarantined in an isolation centre at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri, in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.

US rejects Nigeria’s yam over poor quality – Minister

The minister of agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, says the United States of America, USA, rejected yams export from Nigeria due to poor quality of the yams.

Naija News gathered that Nigeria, in an effort to reduce dependence on oil and increase revenue from the agricultural sector exported yams to US, United Kingdom and China in June.

FRSC officials help pregnant woman deliver her baby

The Federal Road Safety Commission,FRSC, Ogun State Command, on Wednesday helped a pregnant woman, Ajoke Ahmed, deliver her baby.

Naija News gathered that the Command’s Public Education Officer,Florence Okpe, said the pregnant woman who was on transit along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, among other passengers on a commercial bus before she went into labour.

No plan to bring Diezani back to Nigeria to face trial – Malami

Nigeria’s Minister of justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has disclosed the federal government has no immediate plan to bring back home former Petroleum Minister, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, to face trial.

Malami, who made the disclosure to State House correspondents in Abuja on Wednesday, noted that bringing her back to the country would negatively affect ongoing investigations against her in the UK.

Nigerian Army introduces free medical outreach in Abia

Nigerian Army has commenced a free medical outreach in Ovim, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia.

The outreach is an vital part of the current Python Dance II being carried out in the South-East of Nigeria.

The Deputy Director of Public Relations, 82 Division, Col. Sagir Musa, in a statement given to journalists in Enugu, said the programme was a directive by the Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Tukur Buratai.
