2019 Elections: President Buhari endorses El-Rufai’s reelection bid

Nasir El-Rufai, the Kaduna State Governor,  has revealed that his governorship reelection bid in 2019 has the approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Kaduna State governor revealed the endorsement during a radio interview in Kaduna, adding that  Buhari disclosed his support for El-Rufai just before he briefed the President of his intention.

The governor said, “It was after I have finished briefing him that he (President) gave me the nod to seek re-election together with my deputy.

El-Rufai noted that Presdient Buhari’s backing has definitely encouraged him to go ahaead with his reelection ambition.

He, however, stated that  interestend aspirants should should not hesistate to come forward as the “constitution of our party allowed for primaries to elect a standard-bearer.”

He also expressed his readiness to compete with any individual in a free contest in order to emerge as the party’s flag bearer.

He said, “It equally allows for a consensus candidate if the majority of the party members agreed on a consensus candidate.”
