President Muhammadu Buhari is currently in Maiduguri, Borno State, Northeast Nigeria to celebrate the nation’s 57th Independence anniversary with troops defending the nation against Boko Haram terrorists.

Buhari had in his address on Sunday commended the military for defending the nation in the fight against terrorism.

Our Correspondent reports that  the president inspected a guard of honour at the quarter guard 212 recce battalion maiduguri parade ground  in Maiduguri.

Addressing the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, the President said the world over is being praised about the progress made so far in the counter insurgency war. He said the military will remain in the front lines until the country is free of insurgents

Buhari added that the military had done well in rolling back the frontiers of Boko Haram’s terrorism, defeating them and reducing them to cowardly attacks on soft and vulnerable targets.
