Unknown gunmen fired gunshots at the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, during the installation of Mogajis and Baales on Monday.

A former Secretary to the Oyo State Government, and chieftain of Labour Party, Sharafadeen Alli along with journalists were part of individuals who fled the scene of the shooting alive.

Newsmen were said to have just arrived the premises of the palace, only to be caught in the shooting spree. Luckily they escaped the gunfire hiding the drainage outlet in front of the palace, Punch reported

After about 10 minutes of hiding, the gunmen were noticed to have taken off towards Molete end of Popoyemoja.

During the gunfire, the four gunmen in a black Toyota Sienna fired shots around 11:45am, destroying  Alli’s car’s glass windows and other cars parked in front of the palace.

Alli‎, who also is the Asaju Balogun Olubadan of Ibadan land, fortunately escaped gunshot,  as he was inside the car when shots were fired at his vehicle.

The gunmen,while shooting, challenged people within the palace to come out and confront them.

However, the gunfire did not impede the coronation inside the palace.
