Chief Imam, 4 others murdered in Boko Haram attack

A village Chief Imam and four others have been killed in Borno State by suspected members of Boko Haram.

The Caretaker Chairman of Magumeri Local Government Area of the state, Alhaji Abubakar Abdulkadir, made the disclosure to newsmen on Monday in Maiduguri.

President Buhari addresses UN general assembly

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, took his turn to address world leaders at the ongoing general assembly of the United Nations in New York.

In his speech, Buhari called for urgent restructuring of the United Nations’ current structure, urging the leaders to agree on what would be beneficial to the majority of people.

The President also advocated an expanded UN security council with veto powers for at least one African country.

Biafra agitation : Northern Governors visit Abia on peace tour

A delegation of Northern Governors Forum are in Abia state to douse tension and promote peace in the region.

The team led by the Chairman of the Forum, Gov. Kashim Shettima of Borno also has Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina and Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto.

Other members of the team are Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi and Simon Lalong of Plateau states.

Cholera Outbreak: 48 die in Borno

48 persons have died of cholera since the outbreak of the deadly disease in August, in Borno state, a humanitarian medical organisation, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) has said.

The organisation also known as Doctors without Borders, said that 2, 627 cases of the disease have been recorded by the state ministry of health.

Biafra: Police to ban IPOB activities

The Anambra Police Command has taken measures to enforce a prohibition on all activities of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in the state.

Mr Garba Umar, the State Commissioner of Police, said this while a in Awka on Tuesday, warning that any person or persons involved in the activities of the group would be arrested and charged to court.
