Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu under house arrest – Lawyer

Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor has cried out to the public over concerns about the IPOB leader’s safety, claiming his client has been placed under house arrest by the Nigerian army.

Kanu’s counsel, made the revelation in a statement issued shortly after soldiers allegedly invaded the IPOB leader’s country home in Umuahia.  Ejiofor said he got a distress call from Kanu but that he couldn’t confirm whether he is alive or dead.

Biafra: Why Buhari sent soldiers to assassinate me – Nnamdi Kanu

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has alleged that the soldiers who held him hostage in his house were acting on the order of President Muhammadu Buhari,to kill him because of his strong belief in the fight for the freedom of Biafraland.

Kanu, speaking through IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, according to Daily Post, claimed that the Nigerian Army in a bid to perfect the assassination plot had attacked his convoy at “Ubakala junction on his way for an official assignment.”

It is sickening to canvass for Buhari’s second term – Wole Soyinka

Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka has said that it is sickening for anybody to be canvassing for second term for President Muhammadu Buhari and that Nigeria needs reconfiguration.

Soyinka, speaking on Monday with journalists at the Freedom Park in Lagos, according to Vanguard, said those who said what Nigeria needed was just a restructuring of the mind were not saying the obvious.

UNILAG postpones Post-UTME screening exercise

The University of Lagos, UNILAG, has postponed indefinitely its Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, Post-UTME, scheduled earlier for September 18 to September 22.

The Registrar and Secretary to Council of the institution, Dr Taiwo Ipaye, disclosed this on Tuesday in Lagos that a new date for the screening would be announced later on the university’s website.

Police man allegedly kills student over N100 bribe

A police officer has reportedly shot dead Imo Ekanem, a final year student of the Department of Mass Communication, Uyo City Polytechnic, Nduetong Oku, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, over the victim’s refusal to give N100 bribe.

An eyewitness, who gave his name as Usung Simeon, told newsmen on Monday that Ekanem was killed by one of the policemen attached to the special squad the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zubairu Muazu, sent to the area to confront recurrent cult activities.
