Resident doctors state conditions for suspending strike

The National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria (NARD) has revealed that it may suspend its ongoing nationwide strike if it gets evidence of payment of salary arrears.

This came after a meeting between the leadership of NARD and representatives of the Federal Government which began on Wednesday and ended in the early hours of Thursday the Federal Secretariat in Abuja.

I don’t think Buhari is naive – Aisha Alhassan

After visiting the Aso Rock Villa, Minister of women affairs and social development, Aisha Alhassan, says she does not think President Muhammadu Buhari is a naïve person.

Alhassan said this while speaking with state house correspondents after visiting Aso Rock with the hope to meet with Abba Kyari, chief of staff to the president.

The minister who declared support for Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in 2019 Presidential election said she had not seen the president since she made the comment, which made some supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to call for her sack.

Anambra election: citizens exchange voters card for cash

As the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State draws nearer, voter cards have become a means of exchange and livelihood in the state.

Investigations by Punch correspondent revealed that  politicians were ready to pay up to N5,000 per card in rural areas while in urban areas owners of PVCs could make between N7,000 and N10,000 per card.

EFCC: Only 15% of Diezani’s loot has been recovered

Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Thursday, revealed that the anti graft agency has only been able to recover about 15 per cent of funds allegedly looted by former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The EFCC boss, while speaking with Punch, also revealed they were working with the British Government to extradite her back to Nigeria, adding that the commission would not give up, until all the money stolen from the country was recovered.

ASUU strike: Schools may re-open within one week

The ongoing industrial action by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which has grounded academic activities in several Universities across the country, might end within one week.

Indications of this emerged after the ASUU members agreed to consider the federal government’s offer and suspend their strike, following a closed door meeting between ASUU and the government delegation in Abuja.
