BREAKING: Court sentences guru 10 years imprisonment for rape

An Indian court has today, Monday, sentenced a controversial religious leader to 10

years in prison on the grounds of raping two of his followers, a lawyer disclosed to Nigeria News.

“Ram Rahim has been sentenced to 10 years in jail,” defence lawyer Utsav Singh Bains said after the sentence was pronounced at a makeshift court in the northern state of Haryana.

Singh has also been implicated in other serious cases, including murder and forcing followers to undergo castration so they could get “closer to god”. The inter-faith sect, founded in 1948, claims to have 60 million followers in India and abroad, NAN reported.
