Referee abandons match to catch flight

A Chinese referee abruptly ended a China League One reserve match because of fears he would miss his flight.

The happening was confirmed by Hangzhou Greentown Chengdu Economic Daily.

The club said the official left their game against Meixian Techand last weekend, because the area’s nearest airport only had one daily service for his planned route, Daily Post reports.

The first half was only played for 40 minutes, while the second half was stopped after only 38 minutes.

The Chinese Football Association has however launched an investigation into the weird incident.
