L – R: Governor Fayose and President Muhammadu Buhari.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has called on the State Governor Ayodele Fayose to commit suicide in fulfillment to the vow he made if President Muhammadu Buhari returned to the country alive.

Governor Fayose who is a vocal critic of President Buhari was quoted as saying, “I will commit suicide if Buhari comes back alive,” and the statement made the rounds on social media in July.

But APC reminded Fayose of his vow during a rally held by the party and the coalition of civil society groups in Ekiti in celebration of the president’s return.

The APC’s Acting Chairman in the State, Mrs Kemi Olaleye, in her address during the rally, said God has shamed those wishing the President dead, and appealed to Fayose to carry out his threat.

“Mr Fayose has turned himself to propaganda-in-chief, but we are happy that God has shamed those who thought President Buhari won’t return alive. With this rally, the end has come to Governor Fayose’s reign in Ekiti.

“The good people of this state are not in support of Fayose’s action, because we are cultured and compassionate people.

“Look at the Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike, he went to Abuja to welcome the president back to Nigeria. That was a show of maturity, why was our governor not learning from this?

“We are solidly behind President Buhari even beyond 2019. And we are pleading with Nigerians to discountenance whatever Fayose has been saying against the president. He was not speaking for us, he only spoke for himself”, she said.

Naija News had earlier reported that Governor Fayose denied saying he would commit suicide if President Buhari returned to Nigeria alive, attributing the statement to the fabrication of APC.

Meanwhile, Naija News had also reported that the fulani herdsmen called on Governor Fayose to apologise to President Buhari for making disparaging and uncomplimentary statements on the president’s health or legal action would be instituted against him.
