-Real Madrid condemn Barcelona to super cup defeat.

Barcelona were hoping for a comeback against Real Madrid in the second leg of their Spanish Super Cup tie but ended up falling to a 2-0 second-leg defeat to loose 5-1 on aggregate against Real Madrid.

The pre match discussions centered around Cristiano Ronaldo’s 1st leg red card, which resulted in a five-match ban for the Portuguese star but his absence didn’t stop the European champions from exposing and dominating their fierce rivals.

The loss further heaps more pressure on Barcelona to urgently find a replacement for Neymar whom they lost to PSG in a world record €222 million deal.

However, after the loss, Barcelona general manager Pep Segura has claimed the club is close to completing the double signing of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool and Ousmane Dembele from Dortmund.

The duo were identified by Barca to to fill the void left by Neymar’s world-record €222 million move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Speaking in the aftermath of the Blaugrana’s 5-1 aggregate defeat against Real Madrid in the Super Cup, Segura claimed the star duo are edging closer towards Camp Nou, goal.com reports.

Recall that Liverpool have rejected two bids from Barcelona for Coutinho so far, insisting their star player is not for sale for any amount or under any circumstance.
