The Apostolic Church of Nigeria (TACN) in Ilorin has donated some copies of its centenary history books to the University of Ilorin.

Pastor Daniel Olayemi, the TACN Superintendent, Ilorin Area, made the presentation at the University library on Wednesday.

He said the books contain records, activities and distinctiveness of the church from 1918 to 2017, adding that the books would serve as reference materials for students and staff seeking information about Pentecostal movement in Nigeria.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, in his remarks, expressed appreciation to the church for the donation.

The vice-chancellor, who was represented by the University Librarian, Dr John Omoniyi, said that “since we have a programme in the university called Comparative Religious Studies, it will be highly useful.”

Ambali noted that because of the religious harmony in the university campus, “a book like this will be appreciated by all regardless of individual religion.”

In his remarks at the presentation, Prof. James Morakinyo of the university’s Department of Plant Biology, who is also a member of TACN, described the book as a “compendium of knowledge.”

He stated that those who read the books would gain some knowledge about the church’s activities from inception till date.
