Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Honourable Justin Okonoboh, has been impeached on Monday.
Honourable Okonoboh, who assumed office barely a year ago, was impeached by lawmakers at the Assembly in the state capital, Benin City.
Although, reasons for his impeachment are yet to be clarified, the senior state government officials confirmed the development, Premium Times reported.
Rumours of Mr. Okonoboh had been circulating in the past few months.
Mr. Okonoboh’s predecessor, Victor Edoror, was also impeached under related situations in June 2016.
Meanwhile, Honourable Kabiru Ajoto has been elected as the new Speaker.
