Panel beater convicted for stealing gas cylinders

Tribunal rejects PDP's request

Karmo Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja, on Thursday, convicted a 23-year-old panel beater, Lurwanu Musa, to 17 months in jail for stealing cooking gas cylinders and other items.

The judge, Mr. Abubakar Sadiq warned the convict to be of good conduct and to desist from committing crimes after serving his punishment.

NAN reports that, Musa, who resides at MIB Plaza Gwarinpa, Abuja, was charged under Sections 79,349 and 288 of the Penal Code.

The Prosecutor, Mr Dalhatu Zannah, told the court that the matter was lodged at Gwarinpa Police Station, Abuja, by one Hussaini Abdulrahman of Gwarinpa Estate in Abuja on Aug. 4.

Zannah said that the convict committed the offence on the same date at about 3.00 a.m. at House 3, Road 116, 1st Avenue, Gwarinpa Estate.

He said the convict and two others now at large conspired and entered into the nominal complainant’s house through the fence.

According to Zannah, the convict stole the complainant’s 1.5 Horse power LG split unit air-condition and three cooking gas cylinders, all valued at N150, 000.

He said that the complainant reported the incident immediately which led to the arrest of the convict.

The prosecutor said that the convict admitted committing the offence and all the stolen items were recovered from him.
