Police kill five kidnappers, rescue victim
The Ogun State Police Command killed five suspected kidnappers during a shoot-out after a failed attempt of collecting N100 million ransom on Tuesday night.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, who paraded the corpses of the suspects to journalists at Egba Owode Divisional Police Headquarters, said the kidnappers engaged the police in a shoot-out during the rescue operation of the victim.
It was learnt that the victim, Stephen Adesokan, was held in captivity for five days in the den of the kidnappers located along Ajura-Ogere road in Obafemi-Owode local government area of the state .

Mr. Oyeyemi said the suspects on Friday, accosted the victim and abducted him at gun point and then took him into a forest, he was kept.
He said the kidnappers, while the victim was in their custody, contacted his family and demanded N100 million ransom.
The police spokesperson said the commissioner of police, Ahmed Ilyasu, gave an order to his officers to rescue the victim and apprehend the kidnappers.

Mr. Oyeyemi however, said one of the suspects who is at large would soon be arrested.
The victim, who narrated his ordeal to journalists said he was grateful for the swift intervention of the police.
“They took my phone from me and spoke with my family demanding for N100 million before I could regain my freedom saying that failure to pay would result in my death,” he said.
