In an unanimous judgment delivered on Monday at the supreme court in Abuja, a seven-man panel of Justices of the supreme court headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, dismissed the appeal that was lodged by gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the September 28, 2016 governorship election in Edo State, Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

The apex court panel held that both interlocutory and main Appeal Ize-Iyamu lodged before it lacked merit.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court said it would on July 24, give reasons why it upheld the election of Godwin Obaseki who contested and won on the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
