Suspected Cultist Imprisoned Over Alleged Murder In Ogun State

An Ota Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ogun has pronounced that 24-year-old suspected cultist, Rasheed Adeola should to remain behind bars until August 2017.

Adeola was alleged to have shot and hacked a man to death and is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder, while other members of his gang are still at large.

The Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Abdulkareem Mustapha, had earlier disclosed to the court that the accused with others still at large committed the offences on June 24 at about 9.00.p.m. at No. 2, Humph Close, Plaza, Ota.

Members of a secret cult known as “Aiye Confraternity”, the accused and his accomplices, connived and killed a man, Wallu Folorunsho, Mustapha stated. “The accused and his accomplices killed the victim by attacking him with a gun and a cutlass.”

The offences are in violation of Sections 319 (1) and 324 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr B. B. Adebowale, ruled that the accused should be remanded in custody pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions.

The case was adjourned until August 25.
