Court Fixes Date To Determine Fate Of Evans, Others

Billionaire kidnapper Chukwudumeje Onwuamadike,  popularly known as Evans, says he has no hand in suits filed against the police to secure his release.

Evans disclosed the information in an interview with Channels TV on Sunday, saying he had no prior discussion with any lawyer or any person to file the suit on his behalf.  He had however  filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit at the federal high court in Lagos on June 28, requesting that  the court  to have him released from police custody.

Recall that Naija News had earlier reported the case file with reference number FHC/L/CS/1012/2017, where he requested the Nigerian police to either charge him to court or he be immediately released from police custody totally.

Evans had also filed another suit against the Inspector General of Police and three other parties, claiming general and exemplary damages  worth N300 million for “illegal detention and unconstitutional media trial”.

However,  Evans disclosed that he had no hand in the lawsuits filed by Olukoya Ogungbeje. He added that  the lawsuits were filed to further indict.  He said: “I have no hand in any case filed against the police and I did not speak with any lawyer or my father to fill a case on my behalf,” he was quoted to have said. All I will say is that they should temper justice with mercy.”
