A 36-year-old driver, Abdulahi Garba  has killed his housewife, Falilat Saka. She was stabbed in the neck by her husband.

Garba was among 13 other criminals paraded on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, in Lokoja by the Kogi State Police Command. Garuba allegedly killed his wife over a heated argument on housekeeping allowance precisely at Ihima, in the Okehi Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect gave a statement at the police station confessing to his crime. According to Garba, anger was the catalyst behind the murder. He said he had been married to his late Falilat for the past 15 years and had no intention of killing her.

Garba said he was able to provide ₦2,000 out of ₦4,000 requested by his wife which the disgruntled woman rejected causing an argument to ensue between the couple. But it was the slap from his wife that pushed him to stab her with a knife.

In his words, the suspect said:

On that day, she requested ₦4,000, but I gave her ₦2,000, which did not go down well with her. This led to an argument. Before I knew what was happening, she slapped me, which made me to be drenched in fury.

“As a man, I felt so humiliated and in anger, the knife we were using to peel orange became my weapon, which I used to stab her. Unfortunately, she died from the injury sustained in her neck region.”

Garba who is being held for culpable homicide, however, expressed remorse over the incident that led to the death of his wife.

“I can’t believe I killed my own wife and mother of my son.”

Parading Garba along with 13 suspected criminals for allegedly engaging in heinous crimes and other nefarious activities across the state, the Kogi State Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Yahaya Abubakar, disclosed that the suspect, who admitted having stabbed his wife, would be arraigned in court as soon as the result of the post-mortem examination is received.
