The Osun State chapter  of theNigerian Medical Association (NMA), on Thursday staged a peaceful protest in Osogbo over non-payment of salary arrears and poor healthcare facilities in the state.

While leading the protesters, the state Chairman of NMA, Dr Tokunbo Olajumoke, said the state government owed medical doctors in the state two years arrears of modulated salaries.

The doctors protested from the NMA state secretariat along Gbongan/Ibadan road to the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, via the Ogo-Oluwa/Olaiya route, carrying banners and placards with various inscriptions to press home their demands.

Dr Olajumoke also frowned at the state government for imposing heavy tax on the doctors despite the fact that they are not being well paid.

The NMA chairman appealed to the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola to ensure the payment of the arrears of the doctors without delay to avoid full wrath of the doctors.
