EFCC plans to plant money, weapon in my house – Ekweremadu raises alarm

– Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, has raised an alarm

– Ekweremadu says the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) plans to to invade his country home in Enugu

– He alleged that they have plans to plant money and ammunition in his apartment during the raid

Ike Ekweremadu, the deputy Senate president has raised an alarm over an alleged plan by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to ‘kill his political career’.

Ekweremadu raised a point of order on the matter at plenary on Wednesday, May 3, 2017.
The deputy Senate president said an undisclosed source wrote to inform him of a planned raid of an apartment by the EFCC in his name this weekend.

The letter reads:
“They said on 6th of May Saturday night or Sunday the EFCC alongside the local and international media under the guise the whistle-blowing policy of the federal government have obtained a warrant to search an apartment alleging to be one of your guest houses in Enugu capital state.

“The EFCC will be claiming to have a tip off from a whistle blower from your state alerting the EFCC of a huge amount of money of currency in the apartment said to be belonging to you Ike Ekweremadu, deputy senate president of the federal republic of Nigeria.

“The proceed which is likely to be illegally obtained and acquired which constitute abuse of office and corruption.

“The things said to be discovered in the said apartment are a huge amount of money with huge currencies such as British Pounds sterling, US dollars, Indian rupies. Do cents allegedly to be yours such as 2015 campaign logistics. There will be a single photograph.”
