Rochas Okorocha, the governor Imo State, has shown interest in being the President of Nigeria, saying that what befits his current status is to be the president of Nigeria.

Okorocha, who noted that he wouldn’t be contesting against President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, however said that he may run for presidency after the incumbent president completes his tenure.

The governor made this assertion on Monday in Owerri, the Imo state capital.

“Governor does not fit me. What fits me is president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I will not contest against Buhari,” the Guardian quoted the governor as saying.

Naija News recalls that Governor Okorocha had made earlier moves that suggest that he may be positioning himself against president Buhari in 2019.

The governor had accused the President Buhari-led administration of sidelining the entire Igbo race in his Federal appointments, adding that the Igbo ethnic group had never suffered the magnitude of marginalization as seen under the current administration.

“We have nothing to show that we are part of the Nigerian project; neither do we have any sense of belonging in the present government at the national level. We have been marginalised both in terms of projects and appointments,” Okorocha had said.
