FG is planning to hack the phone of Nigerians – Makarfi PDP

The Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised alarm over an alleged move by the federal government is planning to tap mobile phone lines and hack other devices of citizens as a way of intimidating and shutting them up. 

‎The PDP also asked the All Progressives Congress (APC)‎ led federal government to stop what it termed use of arms to intimidate and ridicule Nigerians.

In a statement, in Abuja, PDP spokesman Dayo Adeyeye ‎said, “These ‎and other unholy practices of this administration will ‎henceforth be resisted by all Nigerians.

“‎We will mobilise Nigerians at ‎all levels to fight against the use of arms in a democratic system to ‎ridicule and intimidate citizens of this country.”

The committee said Nigerians ‎should not be arrested and detained indiscriminately for criticising or holding the government accountable, adding that ‎constructive criticism is the primary ‎role of opposition parties in a democracy all over the world.‎

‎‎”We have also been alerted to the news of the Federal Government of ‎Nigeria planning to tap mobile telephone lines and hacking of other ‎devises of citizens as a way of harassing and intimidating them into silence,” the statement said.
