Indian baby girl rescued after been buried alive
A indian baby girl has been rescued alive and she is now in a stable condition after she was found buried alive by villagers in the Indian village of Anjira, Jajpur.
NaijaNews.com learnt that the baby had been buried in a field in a hamlet named Shyamsundarpur. Villagers came to her rescue after a passing schoolgirl raised the alarm, having spotted her feet moving above the earth.
The baby was rushed to the Dharmasala Community Health Centre, and later transported to the Dharmasala government hospital.
Hospital staff named the baby Dharitri, which means “the earth” in the local Hindu dialect. Upon her full recovery, Dharitri will be taken to local child welfare authorities. Police indicated that the newborn’s parents abandoned her either because of her gender or because her mother was an unmarried woman.
spokesperson added: “We are trying to track the parents of the girl. Chances are it was a case of female feticide and it is clear that the accused wanted to kill her.” Police also said they have launched investigations into the incident and that the parents of the newborn remain unknown.
